The history of Guinot began in France over 50 years thanks to Rene Guinot, a well-known chemist. The collection of skincare products, now known throughout the world as Guinot Paris, began with a focused approach to treating the skin with the now well-known Hydradermie treatment. From this beginning concept moved ahead with products compatible with those used in spa treatment made available for clients’ use at home. Today, Guinot Paris skincare as well as the Guinot professional treatments are available in spas/salons throughout the world.

Guinot Paris provides a wide range of beauty care, covering three specific categories- face, body and sun. But in each category, the company’s philosophy of professional expertise as a guide to product usage is an important part of its skincare message. Basic to this is the Guinot creed with points out that every skin is different as well as being exposed to different environmental and stressful conditions at different times. Skinmaze Guinot Crown Salon nestled between Bournemouth and the infamous Sandbanks Poole retained this industry honour at the Guinot Conference and Awards Ceremony held at The Brewery in London on the 24th January 2016. Leonilla Beck of Skinmaze received the Crown Award at the evening gala hosted by celebrity Joanna Lumley, who gave a speech and presented individual salon awards alongside Managing Director, Chris Gillam.

 

1930 – The precursor of beauty

In his laboratory, the chemical engineer Rene Guinot made an incredible discovery: Skin cleansing enables in-depth skin purification and cleaning, which in turn facilitates penetration of treatments active ingredients. From then on, he constantly approached beauty from a scientific standpoint. This enabled him to obtain concrete results and strengthened his credibility among the general public.

 

1963 – The Rene Guinot company is set up

In 1963, he set up the Rene Guinot company to supply his wife, a Beauty Therapist, with quality products. But the company had a slow start: In its small Montreuil Site, the company had only a few employees and was just starting to set up sales and marketing activities. The company had 22 points of sale at that time.

 

1965 – Hydradermie, the revolutionary treatment

The brand passed a fresh milestone. At the time, all Salon treatments were applied manually. Then Rene Guinot revolutionized the world of esthetics by presenting his new Hydradermie Treatment. The principle: a gentle ionization process that makes the skin more receptive to the specific active ingredients that are applied to it subsequently. The results were so astonishing that Beauty Therapists immediately formed an exclusive clientele.

 

1972 – Rene Guinot takes off

At the time, Jean-Daniel Mondin, a Doctor of pharmacy, took over the Rene Guinot company to give it renewed momentum. His initial approach was to consider advice about treatment products in exactly the same way as prescriptions in the pharmaceutical field. It was decided that only Beauty Therapists had the necessary skills to examine the skin and meet their client’s beauty requirements. At the same time, to develop products and treatments that were increasingly technical and effective, he set up a permanent scientific platform bringing together researchers, university professors and physicians. The company’s growth was consistently obtained in close partnership with Beauty Salons.

 

1993 – Subsidiaries worldwide

The first subsidiary was set up in Germany to play a commanding part on the biggest cosmetics market in Europe. The second subsidiary followed in Mexico two years later. Since then, the brand has continued along the same lines, and Guinot Treatments now delight women and men  in over 65 countries.

 

1998 – A research Center at the cutting edge of technology

One of a kind in France, in the field of Beauty Salon brands, the new Guinot scientific department staffed 23. Their mission: Think up, develop and test Beauty Salon treatments and cosmetics for tomorrow.

 

1999 – Epil Confort, For long lasting depilation

Guinot innovates in the depilatory segment with a line of products that improves and prolongs the effect of depilation.

 

2000 – Longue Vie Cellulaire, an exceptional range

In the light of the success of Longue Vie Cellulaire Face, new treatments were developed for the specific areas that women are especially conscious of: The eyes, lips, hands, body, and soon neck. Longue Vie Cellulaire thus became a real line of treatments, essential to the success of  Guinot Treatment Sources.

 

2001 – The Guinot Franchise in countries around the world

By 2003, 19 franchised Guinot Paris Spas sprung up and met great success, enabling estheticians all around the world to benefit from the Guinot brand awareness in their work.

 

2002 – Aromatic

The new Aromatic Face Treatment  brings together the biological effects of concentrated plant extracts, the energizing virtues of essential oils, and manual techniques, with the Beauty Therapists’ professional expertise. A worldwide success!

 

2003 – Absolue Minceur, the new generation in Body Treatments

For the first time, a body treatment with a draining massage, made using the best slimming active ingredients known at the time: Lipokinases® that help reduce, fat, essential oils that accelerate their elimination, and clay to draw out water and toxins.

 

2004 – Time Release Youth Boost / Skin Matrix Complex

A revolution in the field of esthetics with this intensive, highly technical expert treatment that is fully adapted to suit skin rhythms and provide spectacular results. 2005 – Treatments gain increased popularity
